Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival returns on May 23 at Puerta Real Gardens, Intramuros Manila, bringing together music, culture, and visual art in a historic open air setting. Known for its distinct atmosphere, the festival creates a space where sound and creativity flow freely, drawing in a crowd that appreciates both global and local talent.
This year features a powerful lineup led by Julian Marley, son of reggae icon Bob Marley, marking a special return of the Marley legacy to the Malasimbo stage. Also performing is Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, carrying forward the spirit of Fela Kuti through Afrobeat rhythms and socially driven music. Alongside them are visual artists like Leeroy New, Jinggoy Buensuceso, and Cherry Fulo, adding depth to the festival experience with immersive art installations and exhibits.
Jazz, world music, and Afrobeat continue to shape the Malasimbo sound, blending rhythm with message in every performance. The festival remains a place where music meets advocacy and art becomes part of the conversation.
