Event Details
Agawan Festival 2026 takes place on May 15 in Sariaya, Quezon as locals honor San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. The celebration is a thanksgiving tradition for a bountiful harvest and remains one of Quezonโs most exciting annual events, drawing crowds eager to witness its unique customs.
The biggest highlight is the famous Agawan or scramble, where residents hang agricultural produce, snacks, and even money on bagakay or young bamboo branches placed along houses and streets. During the procession of San Isidro, spectators rush to grab the prizes while others catch food, fruits, and money being thrown from homes. It creates a fun and chaotic atmosphere that symbolizes abundance and generosity.
Homes throughout Sariaya are also decorated with buntal hats, bananas, string beans, and other colorful harvest displays that add to the festive vibe. Beyond the scramble, the event highlights the townโs strong farming roots and keeps a long standing tradition alive every May.
