Ibalong Festival 2026 takes place in Legazpi City, Albay from August 7 to 23, bringing the ancient Bicolano epic to life through colorful performances and community celebrations. Inspired by the legendary story of Baltog, Handyong, and Bantong, the festival transforms the city into a stage where heroes battle mythical creatures through lively street parades, tribal dances, and theatrical presentations.
Festival preparations begin even before the official opening with the Mutya ng Ibalong 2026 screening and grand presentation held on July 11 to 12. Visitors can also explore the Legazpi Art Pop Market: Legacy of Ibalong on August 8 to 9, featuring local artists, crafts, and creative works inspired by Bicol’s rich heritage. Throughout the festival, performers wearing elaborate warrior costumes recreate the famous battles from the Ibalong epic, making it one of the city’s most anticipated attractions.
The celebration also includes a variety of competitions and modern events alongside its cultural programs. Sports fans can catch the Ibalong Festival 9 Ball Billiard Tournament from August 11 to 15 at the Legazpi City Convention Center and regional Taekwondo tournaments on August 15 to 16 at Embarcadero de Legazpi. The Ibalong Launchpad Hackathon, scheduled for August 12 to 13 at Hotel Luca, adds a technology and innovation showcase that complements the city’s celebration of history, culture, and creativity.
