Pintados Kasadyaan Festival 2026 takes over Tacloban City, Leyte on June 29, bringing together faith, history, and regional pride in one of Eastern Visayasโ biggest celebrations. The festival honors the Sto. Niรฑo while paying tribute to the ancient Pintados, the tattooed warriors of the Visayas whose detailed body markings symbolized bravery, beauty, and high social status.
One of the biggest highlights is seeing performers transform into warrior inspired figures with colorful body paint that resembles armor from head to toe. During the lively street dancing competitions and parades, groups perform to the beat of native drums while reenacting pre Spanish traditions, tribal battles, cultural rituals, and stories from the regionโs past.
The celebration also includes the Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals, which means joy or merrymaking. Different municipalities across Leyte gather to showcase their own folklore, legends, costumes, music, and choreography. Since merging in 1999, the combined festival has grown into a major cultural event that highlights the rich heritage of Leyte every June.
