Binirayan Festival 2026 takes place across Antique from December 1 to 23, with the biggest celebrations centered on December 15 in San Jose de Buenavista. This year brings a new tableau on the Confederation of Madja as, highlighting the pre colonial story of the 10 Bornean datus who settled in Panay. The festivalโs December 15 highlight will feature a reenactment of their arrival at Malandog, Hamtic, along with a symbolic torch lighting that represents unity and the continuing identity of Antique.
The celebration also brings together communities from across the province through the Malay Ati tribes competition, the Search for Datu and Lin ay Kang Antique, and Pasundayag, an exhibit and trade fair featuring the 18 municipalities of Antique. Visitors can expect local products, food, cultural displays, and performances that give each municipality a chance to show its own traditions and character. The winning Malay Ati tribe will also represent Antique at the Dinagyang Festival 2026 as a non competing tribe, giving the festival a connection to one of Iloiloโs major cultural celebrations.
Beyond the major performances, Binirayan Festival is also a good time to explore the everyday culture and creativity of Antiqueรฑos. The 2026 program includes a Bamboo Summit and food festival, adding local craftsmanship and flavors to the historical celebration. The festival has been part of Antiqueโs December traditions since 1974, and the name Binirayan comes from the Karay a word biray, referring to a sailboat and the idea of a place where people sailed to.
